Perhaps a more apples to apples competition is HP/Microsoft vs. Apple for the yet to be valuable category of “tablets”.
The HP Slate and Apple iPad devices are remarkably similar.

you know why Apple will sell more than HP? Marketing. Look at how Apple polishes everything up from the product design to the silly video.
Lots of of bloggers not too happy with the new iPad.There was too much hype about it and alot blogers got disapointed.Thing is, I actually see great deal of the awesome potential of this gadget. Third-party soft for composing music, games, papers and magazine and FFS books, all kinds of good stuff, but they just didn’t really sell it right (aside from the books). It looks kinda undercooked

I think each of the device has its own drawbacks. HP Slate supports Flash and AIR but runs vulnerable Win7 in other hand Apple iPad have no flash support but has much credible OS. Anyways you can also see this post: HP Slate boast Adobe AIR and Flash support hits iPad drawbacks
