I just got an e-mail a few days ago from a friend I’ve known for over 20 years, that put me down for not being a very good friend for a number of years now. Actually, it was more of an unprovoked, completely out-of-the-blue body slam.

I wonder if this helps put it in context more than I would like to admit. I’ve always been a fairly anti-social person, and have grown grown to increasingly dislike talking on the phone. I tend to like sites like Facebook now precisely because it allows me to have some contact with people I like, but not too much (ala feeling “obligated” to call or write fairly often).

But maybe I’ve just become a shitty friend.
